Directions: (from nwo's text file)
Assign these numbers to these buttons in the "Input (this game)" menu for UMK3. You don't want to override your current controller configuration so make sure it says "or" by them.
P1 Button1 = 1
P1 Button2 = 2
P1 Button3 = 3
P1 Button4 = 4
P1 Button5 = 5
P1 Button6 = 6
Heres roughly what it should look like...
Example: P1 Button 1 = J1 Button 3 or 1
Example: P1 Button 3 = J1 Button 4 or 3
Example: P1 Button 2 = J1 Button 0 or 2
Example: P1 Button 4 = J1 Button 2 or 4
Example: P1 Button 5 = J1 Button 1 or 5
Example: P1 Button 6 = J1 Button 5 or 6
Requirements:
Mame32k .64
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (rev 1.2)
F5 must be assigned to "swap player controls"
You must host an online game with minimum to no lag.
Desync:
If the UMK3 Unlocker program is displaying a different swap order than what the game is. You must go to the options screen and input the correct swap order and click on the "update" button. Lag will sometimes cause MAME to not acknowledge an F5 key press, which will cause the program to desync.
Control Swapping:
This feature only works in a 3 or 4 player game. The UMK3 Unlocker program displays who is currently fighting, at the end of a fight, you click on the player that has won, the next person in line will automatically be swapped in. Make sure you have selected the correct amount of players so the program knows who to swap in next. When a player drops from the game, you unselect that player so they will not be swapped in anymore.
VS screen kombat kodes:
As soon as both Players 1 and 2 have selected their characters, you have about a second or less to click a kombat kode button for it to work correctly. This will likely take some practice at first.
The reason for this is because the UMK3 Unlocker program swaps out Player 2's controller to minimize the chances for an unwanted key press (which would ruin the kombat kode you are trying to enter).
All kombat kodes will work at any swap order (including ultimate kombat kodes).
Ultimate kombat kodes:
At the game over screen, click the button for which character you want to unlock, you can only do 1 at a time. The fastest way to get to the game over screen is to input the "galaxian" kombat kode at the VS screen.
True 2 on 2 team kombat:
Make sure the game is running and you have selected 4 players. Go to the options screen and select the "Enable true 2 on 2 team kombat" option. When this is selected the swap order is automatically changed to 1324. If you want to allow each player to select their own character, when a player is done selecting their character, you treat them as if they just lost a match, so if Player 3 has selected, and the swap order is 1324, you click on Player 1. This will put Player 4 (his teammate) in his spot. If you do this correctly for all players, the swap order will be 2431 when everyone is done selecting. When selecting any kombat kode with "True 2 on 2 team kombat" enabled, after the kombat kode is entered, instead of putting the control swap order back to 2431, it will be put back to 1324 at the beginning of round 1. This also works with a swap order of 1324, 1432, 2431, or 2314. If you fail to click on a kombat kode button for the VS screen, you will have to manually put the swap order back to 1324 before round 1 starts.
